Now that students have determined the best solution, it is time to write step 6. The step 6 action plan is the culmination of the problem-solving process in Global Issues. Step 6 asks students to develop a new idea into a workable, detailed plan.
The goal of the action plan is to present a comprehensive proposal for solving the underlying problem. Students develop their top solution into a detailed action plan demonstrating how it will address the underlying problem. A successful action plan will also show how the implemented solution will impact the future scene.
Step 6 is a great place to showcase student creativity, futuristic thinking, and research.
Reminders
- The action plan must be based on the top solution identified in step 5.
- Students should explain in detail who, what, how, why, where, and when the solution idea will be implemented. Writers should be careful not to just repeat their step 3 solution idea.
- Students must explain how their action plan connects to the criteria from step 4. There is a separate writing space for this, but it can be integrated into the action plan as well. Evaluators will award points for this no matter where in the step it is written.
- The format for step 6 is not prescribed. Students can choose their own way to organize the action plan. Common formats include advertisements, letters, newspaper articles, business proposals, and short stories.
